2020 CATALYST HANDBOOK INDUSTRY CATEGORIES PROCESS CATEGORIES COMPANY INDEX REFINING 45 FCC Application: FCC catalyst for moderate to heavy residue feed. The SPB Series features maximum gasoline and LCO selectivity with excellent bottoms conversion. Description: * For use in the FCC unit and RFCC unit * Based on the combination of high-performance USY zeolite and JGC Catalysts and Chemicals Ltd.'s latest proprietary matrix technology, MIP, which expresses the effective pore structures and acid properties for bottom cracking of heavy distillate (Fig. 1) * Applied functional vanadium trapping technologies (identified as CMT-42) to enhance metals tolerance * Applicable for heavier feedstock with high metals (nickel and vanadium) content on equilibrium FCC catalyst (Ecat). Advantages: The SPB Series achieves high liquid products yield with low slurry. It also enables the control of gasoline and LCO yields, with high flexibility, through a combination of zeolite technology and matrix technology. Economics: The SPB Series enables the processing of lower-quality feed due to superior bottom cracking ability. Development: The SPB Series was developed and commercialized in 2019. The formulations can be optimized for changes in various conditions such as feed quality, operation mode, production priority, etc. 35 Acid amount/µmol g-1 SPB Series 40 4 nm-10 nm 10 nm-60 nm 60 nm+ Weak acid Middle acid Strong acid 30 25 20 15 x 2.7 10 5 0 CVZ MIP technology applied Base catalyst without MIP technology MIP technology applied catalyst Fig. 1.
