DESCRIPTION: Nel Hydrogen's A-series fully automated MW-class, onsite hydrogen
generator electrolyzers utilize the atmospheric alkaline method for splitting water.
The modular concept for this electrolyzer series enables customized indoor hydrogen
solutions for a variety of applications, configurations and size, at any location.
Complete installation of electrolyzer plant and delivery of specific modules can be
customized based on requirements. The system is robust and can be containerized
offering low footprint electrolyzer plants operating at high capacity. For larger
applications, A series units can be grouped together utilizing a shared balance of
plant design and minimizing both capital and operational expenses.
ATMOSPHERIC ALKALINE HYDROGEN GENERATION PLANT COMPONENTS:
* Transformer/rectifier: The transformer and rectifier convert the
AC voltage supply into DC current input.
* Electrolyzer: The electrolyzer is of the filter-press type, with bipolar electrodes
separated by non-asbestos diaphragms. Hydrogen gas is generated at
the cathode, and the oxygen gas is generated at the anode.
* Electrolyte system: This module consists of two gas separators and the
electrolyte recirculation system. The electrolyte is recovered in the separators,
then chilled and recycled into the cell block.
* Scrubber: The scrubber has 3 primary functions: Remove residual traces
of electrolyte, cool down the hydrogen and feed water tank.
* Gas holder: The gas holder is a buffer tank installed between the electrolyzer
and the compressor or the process onsite.
* Compressor: If required, a compressor is installed to compress the gas
from atmospheric pressure in the gas holder to the pressure required
for the process or the storage vessel.
* Deoxidizer: Hydrogen generated in the electrolyzer is a very pure gas,
saturated with water and its oxygen content does not exceed 0.2%.
If higher purity is required, the last molecules of oxygen can be removed
by catalytic reaction in a deoxidizer.
* Dryer: The dryer will dry the gas to reach the suitable dew point. It consists
of twin towers filled with a desiccant to absorb the water.
* Hydrogen storage: The gas storage provides a backup solution or ensures
hydrogen make-up for batch applications with uneven gas consumption.
