WINNER: Melissa Mastry, Technology Manager, Refining Catalysts, BASF
During her time at BASF, Dr. Mastry has enhanced her experience through several rotational
assignments in different business groups and organizational functions of BASF. This includes her
current role in the refining catalyst group supporting FCC catalyst and additives technologies. Her
past roles include Americas Technical Specialist; Europe, Africa and the Middle East Technology
Manager; and Americas Technology Manager. During her career, she has led the project team that
created and digitized the refining catalyst new product commercialization process, drove a fast
track concept-to-customer program to deliver a new technology to a major customer and has
been instrumental in supporting the launch of Fourte and Fourtune FCC products, as well as
supported the development of the optimized catalyst designs that are supplied globally to
refining FCC units. She has authored or co-authored 19 publications and actively participates in
industry association seminars and presentations (e.g., AFPM, ERTC, LARTC, BASF seminars in
Europe and the Americas). She has also authored several academic publications and market
technical publications and is an active member in the America Chemical Society. Dr. Mastry
earned a Bch degree in chemistry and French from the University of Florida, an MBA from the
University of North Carolina and a PhD in chemistry from the University of Texas.
