Today's energy sector is in flux. Changing regulations and the global
debate on climate change are pressuring the decarbonization of complex
global value chains. AVEVA works with its customers and partners
to help them drive abatement under scopes 1, 2, and 3 of carbon
emissions and move closer to their carbon net zero targets. Several
approaches are converging simultaneously: rapid design of new technologies
like carbon capture and storage (CCS) and green hydrogen
production, carbon-efficient design of greenfield plants, modernization
of infrastructure to accommodate new renewable energy, optimization
of operations to directly minimize GHG emissions, data management
to track carbon footprint in real time, and sustainability dashboards for

Aker Carbon Capture drives fast design and
lowers the cost of carbon capture units (CCUs)
Aker Carbon Capture uses AVEVA's cloud-based engineering solutions
to design and build CCUs for companies in carbon-intensive industries so
they can mitigate the carbon emissions of their industrial operations. Aker
saw significant efficiency gains by reducing engineering man-hours and
was able to reduce the cost of their mid-sized offerings by 90%.

Carbon Capture
Neste works to reach its carbon neutral target by 2035
Neste uses AVEVA´s supply chain solutions in the cloud to manage
model-building, decision support, and production planning in one digital
space. Neste teams use automated optimization across multiple sites
and over 80 units, increasing production of renewable diesel and jet fuel,
improving production efficiency, and reducing waste. This initiative is
helping Neste to get closer to its carbon-neutral target.
MOL Group cuts emissions across its refinery business
MOL Group uses AVEVA PI System and PI Vision to manage operational
data and implement real time, self-serve decision support for
operational intelligence. MOL leverages a " layers of analytics " strategy in
PI Asset Framework, providing contextualized and accurate operational
data with bidirectional integration to advanced analytics, including AI.
The focus is the reduction of emissions by increasing energy efficiency
and furnace optimization, which can account for 85% of a refinery's
carbon emissions across a range of different feedstocks.
TotalEnergies ensures safe and sustainable operations
TotalEnergies uses AVEVA Operator Training Simulator (OTS) in the
cloud to reduce training time from months to weeks. With a scalable,

TotalEnergies operators at its industry-scale process training
facility in the OLEUM Center, La Mede, France
cloud-based training platform, they can train up to 2000 trainees per
year. Besides reducing overall training costs, they are helping to reduce
the company's scope 3 emissions by avoiding travel. Using AVEVA OTS
in the cloud, TotalEnergies ensures operational excellence that prevents
excessive flaring.

AVEVA in the O&G industry
AVEVA was founded in 1967 as a Computer-Aided Design Centre
(or CADCentre) at the University of Cambridge in UK. In the same year,
Simulation Sciences (incorporated into AVEVA in 2018) was founded in
the United States, developing the first commercial process simulator
for oil refining processes and starting a long history of first-of-a-kind
developments, like the real-time optimizer developed in conjunction
with Shell. In the 1970s, AVEVA launched the first 3D plant design system
(1976), starting the journey of enhancing design and operations
through AR/VR. In 1980, Pat Kennedy founded OSIsoft (originally Oil
Systems, Inc.) to apply technology to the oil & gas industry. Later, the PI
System became the first and most powerful operational data management
infrastructure system. In the late 1980s, Wonderware was founded
(1987) to start what would become AVEVA´s monitoring and control
product line. Finally, through two big transactions, Schneider Electric
Software with AVEVA in 2018 and AVEVA with OSIsoft in 2021, AVEVA
has combined " software families " with a single purpose: to help companies
solve their major industrial challenges while increasing business
profitability and shaping sustainable future.
