| Special Focus PLANT SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT Two of the paramount concerns in hydrocarbon processing installations are safety and the environment. Since refineries and petrochemical plants contain some of the harshest environments on the planet, it is imperative that plant personnel understand the latest safety protocols and emergency operational techniques to keep themselves and their community safe. In addition to safety, how the plant interacts with the environment has transitioned the mindset of operating officials toward an eco-friendlier pathway to carbon and energy mitigation, including incorporating new technologies to decarbonize operations, increase the production of biofuels and renewable fuels, and reduce hazardous emissions.
