NASSCO Joins UESI As Charter Organizational Member
The National Association of
Sewer Service Companies
(NASSCO) has become a Charter Organizational
Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) Utility Engineering & Surveying
Institute (UESI). This partnership furthers UESI's
mission to foster a collaborative and growing
institute to meet the infrastructure challenge of
reducing infrastructure project life-cycle costs 50
percent by 2025.
NASSCO joins this growing network to strengthen the products and
services that promote and reward excellence in engineering, planning,
design, construction, operations and asset management for utility infrastructure and engineering surveying. Established in 1976, NASSCO sets
standards for the assessment, maintenance and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure through the development of specifications, information sharing through committee participation, and training programs
such as PACP (Pipeline Assessment Certification Program) and ITCP (Inspector Training Certification Program).
Focusing on trenchless, or "no-dig" technologies, NASSCO is also committed to ensuring the continued growth of trenchless methods through
education, public relations, conference participation and member ambassador programs. The member-driven organization comprises professionals across North and South America involved in keeping underground
sewer systems operating at optimum performance. Members include
contractors who do the work; engineers who specify technologies; system
owners (municipalities and other government organizations) who are
responsible for the health of their underground systems; companies that
manufacture or supply equipment, supplies or services; and individuals,
educational institutions and other organizations, such as ASCE, with interests that align with NASSCO's mission.

Opportunities
UESI is a world leader in generating products and services that promote
and reward excellence among civil engineering and surveying professionals working within the utility and pipelines communities. The organization currently has five active divisions: Pipeline, Standards, Surveying
& Geomatics, Utility Infrastructure Asset Management and Utility Risk
Management.

Ted DeBoda, P.E., executive director of NASSCO. "Our partnership will
help better address the needs of the engineering community by providing
contractor perspectives on ASCE references, such as our current collaboration on MOP 92 for Inspection and Rehabilitation of Manholes, as well
as contribute to the ongoing improvements to PACP and ITCP. Additionally, NASSCO's technical director, Lynn Osborn, is a member of UESI's
Board of Governors, so his involvement will serve as a conduit to identify
areas where our collaboration can be most effective for the industry."
