McElroy Releases New DataLogger 6
McElroy's DataLogger 6 is loaded with new features that make collecting
and analyzing data on fusible pipeline projects easier than ever before.
The ruggedized, Android-powered tablet offers a modernized touchscreen interface and easy-to-navigate software system with on-screen
instructions. Fusion operators are guided through each step of the process
to validate joint integrity, according to the supported standards, before
pipelines go into the ground.
A larger, glove-friendly, HD touchscreen on the DataLogger 6 produces
excellent visibility, even in direct sunlight, and is water and dust resistant. A
wired connection ensures reliable transfer of information from the fusion
machine, syncing wirelessly to the DataLogger Vault, where joint records
can be safely and quickly sorted, tagged and shared by machine, joint,
operator, device or job.
Other new features include front and rear cameras to capture job-site
conditions, GPS joint location, a laser barcode scanner to input pipe and
fitting information, a real-time fusion graph for visual interpretation, and
contextual help such as how-to videos and other media for easy reference.

Volvo Construction Equipment has partnered with Hirschmann Machine
Control Systems (MCS) to install the cSCALE rated capacity indicator on the
PL4809E and PL3005E pipelayers.
The cSCALE solution provides a 7-inch color graphic display of the
pipelayer and monitors the maximum load and inclination. Sensors include
angle, tilt, load pin, and anti-two block switch. Another feature is an integrated datalogger/event recorder.
"This load management system is the only one of its kind," said Tony den
Hoed, lead engineer of Volvo's Pipelayer Product Platform. "The combination of logic developed by Volvo with hardware and software supplied by
Hirschmann has set the bar for safety in the industry."
Hirschmann MCS, a Belden Industrial IT brand based in Chambersburg,
PA, is a leading manufacturer of control systems, and load moment indicators and sensors for mobile equipment.

New Vermeer Reclaimer Increases Efficiency
Vermeer has introduced the R250C, a modular mud reclaimer that can be paired with
a variety of directional drills, trailers, pit pumps and gensets to help reduce the costs of
horizontal directional drill (HDD) projects.
"The importance of an efficient flow of quality drilling fluid throughout an HDD job
cannot be understated," said Patrick Robinson, Vermeer commercial business manager
for Pipeline. "With the R250C reclaimer, HDD crews can help reduce the sand content in
the mud."
An innovative 45-degree outlet manifold, combined with suction breakers, separates
sand and course silt efficiently. The cones deliver a consistent performance of reducing
solids. Industry-leading pumps also help aid the process.
A balanced elliptical shaker produces the same motion every time, with the center of gravity balanced on the motors to carry lower gravity solids, such as
clay, over the shaker screens. This motion generates slightly drier cuttings and reduces the mesh size to help increase overall screen life and flow.
As a result, clay swelling is diminished, making the recycling process more consistent.
The double-deck shaker design - 32-square-foot first-cut shaker bed and a second, 18-square-foot, cut area - gives access and visibility to the
bottom deck without sacrificing overall screen square footage. A 360-degree working deck gives access to all sides of the shaker for easy washing and
screen changes. Also, all pumps, electrical motors and pressure washer are located on one side of the machine for easily accessing and servicing
components.
With a processing rate of 520 gallons per minute (gpm) and a recommended consumption rate of 250 gpm, the Vermeer R250C reclaimer is best paired
with drills in the 100,000-pound class.
