Xylem Expands International Pump Rental, Services
Xylem Inc. opened a new pump rental
and service business in Calamba, in the
province of Laguna, Philippines. The hub
will serve the growing demand from
the municipal and industrial sectors
across the Philippines and Southeast
Asia, particularly in flood control, mining
and power supply operations. It will also
further expand Xylem's footprint in the
region and build on the company's current manufacturing and sales operations
in Calamba.
With a wide range of Godwin and
Flygt pumps available for rent, the
2,600-square-meter Calamba hub offers
general dewatering rental services,
preventive maintenance, pump watch,
pipeline outsource contacts, and aftermarket services.
Xylem's market-leading Godwin and
Flygt brands play a key role in dewatering and liquids transfer in municipal and
industrial projects. By 2030, $25 billion
will be invested in expanding power
generation infrastructure across the
Philippines.
Xylem's new facility is set to capitalize
on this planned investment, offering
cutting-edge technologies to minimize
system downtime at plants. Also, as the
heavily storm-exposed Philippines faces
a growing threat from tropical cyclones,
Xylem's hub will offer immediate access
to flood control equipment to protect communities, infrastructure and
industries.
"We continue to experience increased
rental demand throughout Southeast
Asia as customers recognize the value
of Xylem's rental offer - a quick and
cost-effective way to tackle water
removal challenges," said David Flinton,

senior vice president and president of
Xylem's dewatering business. "More and
more customers are turning to rental to
reduce capital costs. In addition, as climate change drives volatility in weather
patterns, the need for contingency planning solutions and emergency pumping
equipment is growing."
Xylem is unique as the only global
company operating in the dewatering
space that manufactures, rents, sells and
services its own equipment, providing
customers with access to a broad range
of market-leading and reliable dewatering technologies and solutions.
Further expanding its range of
technologies, Xylem acquired EmNet
LLC, a rapidly growing provider of smart
solutions that enable municipalities to
manage the urban water cycle, and
wastewater and stormwater systems.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
EmNet's core technology and
expertise in real-time decision support
systems (RT-DSS) was developed as
a multidisciplinary approach to solve
the toughest watershed and collection
system challenges. Its open architecture
platform, called BLU-X, brings the power
of big data analytics in real time to water
and wastewater systems management.
"This is an important addition to our
smart infrastructure portfolio," said Patrick Decker, Xylem president and CEO.
"Cities and utilities around the world
are trying to effectively manage the
challenges of aging infrastructure with
limited resources. EmNet is leveraging
technology to provide more effective
solutions that actually improve their
customers' overall economics."
