Volvo Mid-Size Loader Updates Deliver
Improved Fuel Efficiency, Productivity

John Deere Backhoe, Tractor Loader
Upgrades Provide Job-Site Solutions

Volvo Construction Equipment has expanded its H-Series 2.0 updates to the
L60H and L70H wheel loaders.
"With the L60H and L70H joining the previously announced L90H 2.0,
we have completed the H-Series update for our mid-size wheel loaders,"
said Chris Connolly, product manager, wheel loaders, Volvo Construction
Equipment. "Now, operators can enjoy the latest innovations on all three
machines, helping them to work more efficiently and productively."
The mid-size wheel loaders now boast up to 25-percent greater fuel efficiency than their predecessor models. Among the fuel-saving features are:
* Lock-up torque converter (L70H-L90H option): Lowers rpm and increases
speed, resulting in faster cycles times and improved fuel efficiency.
* Smart Control: Ensures the correct torque in all situations, improving
engine and hydraulic harmony, and helping to shorten cycle times and
conserve fuel.
* Smooth Control: Helps operators maintain a steady throttle position on
uneven ground, resulting in a more even engine speed and smoother
ride, while saving fuel.
* Rim Pull Control: Reduces wheel spin and slippage, thereby saving fuel,
reducing tire wear and improving productivity, while lowering total cost
of ownership.
Other key features on the H-Series 2.0 wheel loaders include increased
tipping load - by 1.7 percent for the L60H, 1.6 percent for the L70H and 3.4%
percent for the L90H - and a slide-able cooler that provides easier access to
remove dirt and debris.
A new, optimized loader arm design results in increased payload, and the
50-percent larger cooling area improves the cooling capacity and lowers
the hydraulic oil temperature.
Electro-servo hydraulic controls available on L70H and L90H offer
adjustable sensitivity, allowing operators to shift quickly between linear and
single-lever controls.
In addition, improved serviceability comes from redesigned engine and
transmission oil fill points for cleaner, faster adding of fluids. A delayed
engine shutdown option reduces engine wear by avoiding hot turbo
shutdowns.

The John Deere 310L EP Backhoe and 210L EP Tractor Loader are the latest
construction equipment models to undergo updates, with a focus on
engine technology and other model adjustments to improve productivity
and uptime, and lower daily operating costs.
"Our goal is to continue to support the 'EP strategy' and to offer an effective backhoe solution under the 56-kW power level, which allows for greater
flexibility to meet emission regulations," said Brian Hennings, product marketing manager, backhoes and tractor loaders, John Deere Construction &
Forestry. "This solution offers rental customers simpler technology, reduced
maintenance requirements, greater reliability and a lower acquisition price."
The 310L EP and 210L EP feature a Yanmar 3.3L Interim Tier 4 diesel
engine. At 69-horsepower, it complies with EPA FT4 emission regulations
without aftertreatment, minimizing machine complexity and the number of
parts needed to maintain a fleet.
A new variable displacement hydraulic pump delivers increased flow and
enhanced power management. As the engine load increases, the pump
modulates flow in order to balance the power split between hydraulics and
the transmission.
Both tractor loaders (210L EP and 210L) received a performance boost
of 26-percent faster lift times due to increased hydraulic pump flow, and
larger-diameter hoses and tubes. Loader lift capacity increased 18 percent.
Improving its popular G-Series large-frame skid steers and compact
track loaders, John Deere added the EH Boom Performance Package. This
productivity-boosting feature is available as a factory-installed option on the
330G and 332G skid steers, and the 331G and 333G compact track loaders.
The electronic self-level (ESL) feature automatically keeps the bucket, pallet forks or attachment level so the operator does't need to make
adjustments when raising or lowering the boom to prevent material spillage.
Also, updated joysticks with built-in detent positions activate the operator
programmable boom and bucket functions.
The return-to-dig (RTD) and return-to-carry (RTC) features allow the
operator to automatically and easily reset the bucket or attachment into a
ready-to-work position, and the boom and bucket into a pre-designated
ready-to-carry position.
