Sliplining 120-Inch RCP Wastewater in Dallas

Dallas' Southside Wastewater Interceptor Project
involved condition assessment and evaluation of
multiple rehabilitation alternatives (trenchless and
open-cut) for approximately 15,000 LF of 120" RCP
wastewater interceptor, with depths from 25' to 50'.
The selected design included sliplining with 110"
fiberglass pipe, as well as a detailed bypass pumping
and diversion plan, streambank stabilization at Prairie
Creek, a levee crossing and technical specifications
for sliplining, grouting, groundwater control and
access shafts.

pressure pipes. An overview of AWWA M77, Condition
Assessment of Water Mains includes valuable information on program management to selection and

and service providers.

Every water main rehabilitation project utilizing a
coating or lining begins with pipe cleaning. This session discusses the cleaning and surface preparation
requirements of coatings and linings used to rehabilitate pressure pipe. Presenters will describe pipe
cleaning methods, expected results, environmental
and social impacts, and the potential problems associated with pipe cleaning. Panelists will then join
participants in a round table event.

years to protect concrete manholes from corrosion.

In response to infrastructure prompted by drastic
population growth, increasing commercial development, recent drought conditions and limited overall
water resource options, Frisco, Texas, initiated two
projects with major trenchless components along a
major thoroughfare. This presentation will discuss
the benefits HDD provided to bore over 2,500' each
of 12" reuse and 20" force main, and the challenges
of drilling a compound curvilinear alignment in hard
rock formation.
