A brand-new high density polyethene
product, is now manufactured at
Dura-Line's Gravenhurst, Ontario,
plant. PowerGuard, an HDPE conduit,
allows for a flexible, expandable
network with dedicated, easily identifiable pathways for system upgrades,
redundancy and future capacity.
"We knew that if we were going to
create a new solution, that it would
have to reflect the high quality of our
other product lines. Our team was
excited to work on this challenging
project," said Brian Didone, director of
sales-Canada.
Suitable for both low- and
high-voltage cables, PowerGuard is
produced to the exacting standards of
CSA C22.2 for electrical use and can
be installed everywhere CSA-certified
PVC conduit can.
PowerGuard provides easy, continuous installation from a reel holding thousands of feet of conduit. For
example, one reel of 2-inch conduit
holds up to 3,281 feet of PowerGuard.
The same amount of PVC 2-inch
conduit would equal more than 300
10-foot sticks of pipe and more than
300 couplers.

Mixing System Optimizes Productivity
With a redesigned, slim, rectangular profile tank, the new
Vermeer MX300 mixing system is right-sized to help
horizontal directional drilling (HDD) contractors optimize
productivity and offers customizable mounting configuration options.
Equipped with a 23 horsepower Kohler ECH 7300 EFI
gas engine that outputs 350 gallons per minute of flow,
the MX300 power unit can be paired with up to two tanks
at once, decreasing time spent mixing and refilling drilling
fluid tanks. The unit's narrow rectangular tank design also
helps maximize fluid volume, and a small footprint can help with convenient transporting and storage.
"The Vermeer MX300 mixing system is an upgrade to the MX240 model," explained Tod Michael, product
manager of trenchless products at Vermeer. "With the ability to use one pump with one or two tanks, the MX300
is scalable to a contractor's job-site needs, from small bores to large-diameter and longer-distance HDD applications, in varying soil types."
Paired with a 750- or 1,000-gallon tank, MX300 works with a variety of drills. It features a wide-mouth hopper
and suction hose for the convenient pouring of drilling additives.
The tapered bottom of the rectangular tank helps prevent additives from settling and building up, and assists
with efficient drainage. At a width of just 40 inches, the MX300 can be mounted to transport two tanks inside a
standard-sized enclosed truck.
The MX300 comes with a 16-gallon fuel tank and is convenient to service with access to the roll jets through
the top of the tank and two drainage points that are operated by two accessible valves. *

Real Time Torquing Procedure, 100
percent of the company's safetycritical attachments, couplers,
actuators and lug nuts are torqued
and documented in real time.
The goal of the procedure is
to verify that these safety-critical
components are torqued within
+/- 5 percent of the target torque
requirement-to specific foot-pounds
and minimum degree rotation-
documented in real time. As a result,
customers have peace of mind that
the trailer is road ready upon delivery.
During the procedure, couplers
and actuators are torqued with a
wireless torque wrench that provides
visual and audible verification of
proper torque. It also prescribes
that wheel nuts are torqued using a
corded tool that is programmed to
torque all nuts on the wheel to 50
percent of its required specs. It then

prompts the team member to repeat
the process to complete torque to
required torque specifications.
Documentation of the torque
process includes:
* Every trailer's safety-critical
torqued results are saved in
real-time to multiple locations.
* Every team member using this
equipment is trained to Felling's
Torque Quality Work Instructions.
* Every trailer goes through a
quality-controlled verification
to ensure the hardware meets
torque requirements. Couplers and
actuators have one random bolt
checked per assembly. Then every
wheel receives a random check
of two lug nuts per wheel.
* After completion of the fastener
rundown, the production
member places a witness
mark as visual verification.
