Grade control is a Productivity Solution
that features highly accurate GPS location data, machine-mounted sensors
and hydraulic interfaces, and a graphical
display that work together to automatically position the blade relative to site
design. It helps crawler dozer and motor
grader operators move dirt with more
accuracy, resulting in fewer passes.
SmartGrade,™ John Deere's advanced
factory-integrated grade-control system,
provides three-dimensional grade control
with no external masts or cables, reducing
risk of theft or damage, as well as Deere
dealer support.
The precision delivered by grade-control
systems translates to improved efficiencies and performance compared

to machines without grade control
and can help less experienced machine
operators increase speed and productivity,
all while maintaining job quality.

Keeping customers up and running
Recently, a two-year-old excavator
working on a Pennsylvania jobsite sent
a high alert to the John Deere Machine
Health Monitoring Center (MHMC) in
Dubuque, Iowa - without the customer
knowing. The alert indicated a strong
likelihood the fuel pump was going to fail.
The local Deere dealership contacted
the customer, explained the alert, and
recommended the pump be replaced.
"As it turned out, the customer was in
the process of prepping the machine
to go to a new jobsite further away,"
said Sandra Weisel, an employee at the
dealership. "The machine was back out
and ready to go to the new job without
missing a beat."
This is an example of the benefit that
John Deere Connected Support can

Connected Support process
The JDLink™ telematics system enables
dealers to monitor machines remotely,
so they can take proactive steps to avoid,
or greatly reduce, machine downtime.
It also powers other technology products
with its machine data such as Diagnostic
Trouble Code (DTC) Alert Triage and
Expert Alerts.
The DTC Alert Triage helps dealers
prioritize DTC information for their
customers' entire fleet of John Deere
connected machines. Expert Alerts notify
dealers of a problem before it occurs.
These alerts are created by John Deere
machine health analysts who monitor
machine data from all connected Deere
machines to spot emerging trends.
The JDLink telematics connection
also enables remote diagnostics and
programming. The dealer can read and
clear diagnostic codes, record machine
performance readings, and even update
machine software without a visit to
the jobsite. Remote diagnostics and
programming can reduce technician
visits to the jobsite or eliminate
them altogether.
