ABOUND AT UCT
The Underground Construction Technology International Conference
& Exhibition (UCT) opens its doors on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020,
at the Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth, Texas.
UCT is the business event where everyone involved in the
underground utility infrastructure industry - utility providers,
consulting engineers, manufacturers, contractors and service
providers - gather for three days of learning and networking.
Exciting elements have been added to the education program
that offer distinctive learning and business-building ideas. Larry
N. Patterson, P.E., director of the Upper Trinity Regional Water
District, will deliver the keynote address, Water for the People...
It Takes Leadership, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 8:30-9 a.m.
Discover what goes into tunneling and microtunneling
construction in the new Tunneling & Microtunneling track on
Wednesday, Jan. 29. New-to-the-field engineers should attend
the Young Professionals track, also offered on Wednesday.
It contains topics and insights geared towards professional
and career development.
Horizontal Directional Drilling has an expanded presence Tuesday
through Thursday. There's classroom learning during five, dedicated
program tracks. You will see more HDD equipment in the exhibit
hall. And, Wednesday evening, the HDD industry will gather for a
special awards ceremony and reception during the HDD Reunion.
Attend UCT and you will experience industry-leading seminars
featuring case histories, lessons learned and panel discussions
that will help you navigate job-site and business-related challenges.
You will hear from industry experts and get actionable, real-world
takeaways that can be applied immediately in the field.
Another reason to attend UCT is that you can earn credit. The
main program qualifies for up to 52 Professional Development
Hours (PDHs); Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also available.
Credits are reviewed and granted by the University of Texas at

Arlington. And, for engineers, you can attend The Code of Ethics
for Engineers seminar taught by Dr. Vipulanandan, Ph.D., P.E.,
professor/director, University of Houston. This course will satisfy
the engineering ethics requirement for your annual license renewal.
As part of the pre-UCT program, CUIRE will host Engineering and
Inspector Training, and Certification Schools on Monday, Jan. 27 and
Tuesday, Jan. 28. Each school qualifies for CEUs and PDHs through
the University of Texas at Arlington. NASSCO is offering a PACP
Recertification workshop and a PACP Initial Certification workshop.
Your search for quality equipment and emerging technologies
used in new construction and maintaining the underground utility
infrastructure ends in the UCT exhibit hall. You'll see familiar
exhibitors and a lot of new ones, offering products and services
to maximize productivity and profitability. The annual welcome
reception will also be held in the exhibit hall, allowing you to
grab a lite bite while conducting business.
From trenchless to traditional (open-cut) technologies and
