Rick Gage Joins Aegion's
Manufactured Technologies Corp
Rick Gage joined Manufactured Technologies
Corporation (MTC) as senior business development
manager, responsible for various accounts in the
U.S. and Canada.
A 15-year veteran of the trenchless technology
industry, he has held various, senior-level
positions, most recently sales director at Waterline
Renewal Technologies, parent company of LMK
Technologies, Perma Liner and AP/M Permaform.
MTC, an Aegion company headquartered in
Chesterfield, Mo., and the United Kingdom, supplies
cured-in-place-pipe tube in a variety of diameters
to third parties across the globe. MTube CIPP is
specially manufactured to accommodate the
particular installation method used, whether water,
air inversion or steam cure.

Vortex Companies Promotes from Within to Fill Executive Positions
B.J. Kerstiens was promoted to regional vice president of Vortex Companies' Quadex Lining System (QLS).
The fast-growing business segment combines advanced technology and geopolymer mortar to offer
solutions that restore large-diameter pipes, culverts and tunnels of all types and shapes.
Based in Tennessee, his main responsibilities are managing the overall business from the QLS
perspective, supporting the sales team and estimating, project coordination, scheduling and licensee
support, across the U.S.
"My goal is to help take the division to the next level," said Kerstiens. "Large-diameter pipe relining is
so much more cost-effective than pipe replacement. As it becomes more accepted, it's critical for QLS
to continue to lead the industry in both installation efficiency and product performance."
His experience includes more than 17 years in construction and 12 years in the trenchless
infrastructure repair and maintenance industry. He is a former Marine and earned a Bachelor's in
Concrete Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University.
Ram Vela was promoted to chief information officer, a new position created to spearhead the company's
commitment to using technology, innovation and data analytics to improve business operations.
Ultimately, he is charged with integrating, optimizing and evolving existing IT systems to a more modern,
cross-functional architecture that supports Vortex's continuous improvement and growth strategies.
Prior to his promotion, he served as vice president of FP&A, while also assisting with acquisitions and
implementation of new software platforms companywide.
"Relative to its counterparts, Vortex takes a more progressive approach in terms of leveraging technology
to drive business outcomes," said Vela. "In my new role, I will be doubling down on that approach to further
evolve our existing and future systems in an effort to continue to improve our bottom line."
