" My role today is working with some great Mears people developing new markets and
customers, " said Herb Fluharty. " Usually they send me in when they need someone with grey hair
to help us look experienced.
" My main interests, along with my wife Chris, include Christ-centered mission efforts. We
are involved in domestic efforts in Detroit and New York City and worldwide in Southern Africa,
Guatemala, El Salvador and Haiti. We enjoy traveling to the Holy Land and encouraging others to
come along. It is like seeing the Bible in 3D.

" Basically, " said Fluharty, " Mears
transitioned from a business in the 1970s
that primarily provided pipeline related
engineering services, to be more pipeline
integrity focused.
" Pipeline integrity services, " he continued, " led us into construction work that
quickly grew to be a major part of our
business and led us into the horizontal
directional drilling market. "
A summary of the company's expansion

* 1980s - pipeline integrity engineering
and construction services
* 1990s - HDD and telecom construction
