Hobas Introduces
Corrosion-Resistant,
Leak-Free Manhole System
For more than
30 years, Hobas has
manufactured pipe
and fittings, including
tee bases and risers.
Finally, Hobas offers what was missing, topping it
off with a fiberglass-reinforced, watertight,
structural manhole system.
The complete system includes a fiberglass cone
made from the same materials as the corrosion-resistant,
leak-free Hobas pipe that customers trust.
Since it is made with the same materials, a long
maintenance-free life can be expected, just like the
100-year design of the Hobas pipe.
The manholes are manufactured to exceed
AASHTO H-20/HS-20 loading design standards
and are more stringent than the current minimum
requirements of the ASTM manhole standards.
The hydraulic efficiency means that the flow
will remain uninterrupted through the tee-base
structures, minimizing odor emissions, as well
as the release of hydrogen sulfide gases. Much
lighter-weight than transitional systems, the Hobas
manholes system offers ease of installation, and the
couplings produce leak-free service.

excavator, U48-5, builds upon the company's U
Series. The powerful 5-metric ton, tight tail swing
model is packed with advanced features that deliver
superior performance, enhanced comfort, and

U48-5 boasts its muscle strength with 11,057
pounds of operating weight, 40.4 gross horsepower,
a working range that includes maximum digging
depth of 10 feet 8 inches, and an impressive bucket
breakout force of 9,304 pounds.
A larger, redesigned cab with improved operator
visibility is central to the U48-5, which comes in a
canopy or cab model.
The cab was also engineered to reduce noise -
registering at 74 decibels and lower than competitor
cabs. A thicker floor plate reduces noise and rear
engine noise is further reduced by a metal partition
between the engine and the cab.
In the cabin space, smart, instinctive functionality
is right at the operator's fingertips, including
a full-digital, full-color, 7-inch LCD screen with
intuitive and easy-to-use jog dial for single glance
access to various functions, such as AUX flow
adjustment and important maintenance functions. *
