surveying engineering profession. In return, they have direct

Built on almost 90 years of international experience, 7,200 COWI staff

Operating in North America since 1988, COWI is a leader in
bridge, tunnel and marine engineering, providing clients with innovative and sustainable solutions to complex challenges. Its professional services span design, inspection, construction engineering
and program/construction management.
Well-known for work with bridges, one of the group's primary
services, COWI achievements include several of the world's highest and longest bridges. Work in this area ranges from suspension
bridges that challenge aerodynamic forces, to exploring designs for

floating bridges. Notable projects designed by COWI engineers are
the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, the world's longest span when it opens in
2022; and Mumbai Trans Harbor Link, India's longest sea-crossing
bridge. Another example is the recently opened Governor Mario M.
Cuomo Bridge in New York, known as the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
For tunnels, the company is involved in the construction of all
kinds-underground railway engineering, metros, immersed tunnels, stormwater and drainage tunnels, sewer systems and utility
tunnels-and in all types of soil. Services cover the entire lifecycle
of a tunnel, from feasibility studies, to start-up, to rehabilitation of
aging systems.
COWI tunnel engineers designed the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao link, opened in 2018, that includes the world's longest immersed
tunnel for road traffic. In the U.S., examples include the design of
critical water and wastewater tunnels in New York and Washington, D.C., and inspection and rehabilitation of tunnels for New York
City Transit and the Port Authorities of New York and New Jersey.
COWI is also a leader within marine, coastal and geotechnical
engineering. Waterfront developments designed to reduce flood
risk, like the tsunami-resistant Crescent City Harbor in California
and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Surge Barrier in New Orleans, are examples of how civil engineering can prevent disaster and
deliver sustainable solutions for the public.
As a full-service provider, COWI delivers onshore and offshore
wind energy projects, from site prospecting, wind and feasibility
studies, to the ready-to-build stage and lifetime extension of existing wind farms. Most recently, COWI announced its involvement
in Vineyard Wind in Massachusetts, the first big wind farm project
in the U.S. *
