DIVISION ACTIVITIES
UESI supports members'
professional and technical
growth through products and
services that promote and
reward excellence in utility
infrastructure and engineering
surveying. These activities are
divided among four divisions -
Surveying & Geomatics, Pipeline,
Utility Asset Management, Utility
Risk Management - each with an
Executive Committee (ExCom)
and various committees.
A fifth division is being
established to coordinate
development, revision or
discontinuance of standards
previously published by the

PIPELINE

Provide leadership for the acquisition and
management of spatial data, and encourage
the advancement of geomatics and professional development.

Advance and correlate scientific knowledge
and engineering practice of projects relative
to the transmission of liquids, gases or
solids via pipelines. Also promote and
coordinate socioeconomic and environmental development and construction of these
engineering projects.

Recent Activities
* Sponsoring a UESI Surveying Competition, as part of ASCE Student Services,
designed to test the ability to apply the
techniques of land surveying. Four separate tasks, involving three team members
each, will be demonstrated: pacing,
differential leveling, building stakeout,
and determining the depth of a proposed
sewer line and the cut at each station.
* Establishing mutually beneficial memoranda of understanding with the National
Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS),
SPAR 3D Expo & Conference, the American Association for Geodetic Surveying
(AAGS), and Flat Dog Media, Inc.

* Initiated review of draft paper submissions for the technical program of the
2019 Pipelines Conference coming to
Nashville, Tenn., this July.
* Continued meetings and effort by volunteers serving on technical committees to
develop and update Manuals of Practice
(MOP) and webinars. Actively looking
for volunteers to participate on technical
committees.

focused on getting more students interested in a surveying career.

* ExCom conducted meetings to organize
the 2020 Pipelines Conference in San
Antonio; support technical committees
on current MOP, webinar and workshop
