The Big Easy is known for many things including its history, beautiful homes, its rich culture and cuisine. You’ll drive through the world renowned French Quarter; highlighted here are such famous landmarks as the Pontalba buildings (one of America’s first apartment dwellings), the Saint Louis Cathedral, flanked by the Cabildo and Presbytere, and Jackson Square with its old world flavor and its own colorful art colony. Then pass by the mansions of Creole merchants nestled among 100-year-old oak trees on Esplanade Avenue and view the St. Louis Cemetery, known as “the city of the dead” due to its above-ground tombs. Your guide will explain the interesting burial customs in New Orleans. As the tour proceeds, you will visit the old town of Carrollton. Following the streetcar route, you’ll see Tulane and Loyola Universities and Audubon Park which 55 ANNUAL CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION 2011 houses the world-class Audubon Zoo. Heading back through the Garden District, you will view the many beautifully restored mansions along St. Charles Avenue, shaded by live oak, magnolias and palm trees. Snubbed by the Creoles, wealthy Americans built these magnificent mansions during the golden age of New Orleans when cotton and sugar was king. This is sure to be a tour you will not forget. It is perfect for first-time visitors as well as repeat visitors. “New Orleans Highlights” Specifications: • Deluxe Motor Coach Roundtrip Transportation • Narrated Sightseeing City Tour • ACCENT on Arrangements, Inc.
