Author Elizabeth White to Present in ALA JobLIST

he ALA JobLIST Placement & Career
Development Center will host author
Elizabeth White on Sunday, June 25,
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. during the ALA Annual
Conference in Chicago. Elizabeth White,
Author of Fifty-five, Unemployed, and Faking Normal, will discuss the hidden financial
plight of many baby boomers and the pressure
to act like everything's okay when everything
is not okay.
White is an entrepreneur, author, aging
solutions advocate, and seasoned non-profit
executive with domestic and international expertise in economic development and gender
empowerment.
White was interviewed recently on PBS
NewsHour and her story/articles have appeared in Next Avenue, Forbes, The Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor, and The
Washington Post.
White currently serves as Special Advisor
to the Interim Executive Director at Senior
Service America (SSA). Before joining SSA,
she was the Chief Operating Officer of a midsize NGO focused on improving the quality of
life in 18 African countries. She also serves as
an adjunct professor in the workforce development program at the University of the District
of Columbia, and has taught entrepreneurship
at Trinity College.
White was Senior Diversity Advisor to the
CEO of the Calvert Group, a socially-respon-

at the World Bank where she was recruited
through the bank's highly prestigious Young
Professionals program.

to find health information on the Internet.

to locate health materials for distribution to
older adults within the community.

ASCLA Program: SitStayRead:
How Dogs Are Improving Literacy Skills
and Fostering a Love of Learning

itStayRead is a nonprofit literacy
organization established in 2003
which serves 80 classrooms in 16 of
Chicago's low-income public schools. Our
program connects children in 1st through
4th Grades with trained literacy volunteers

and Certified Reading Assistance Dogs in a
curriculum that develops key literacy and
social-emotional skills.
The program will be held on Monday,
June 26 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. in McCormick
Place, W175a.
