Join EMIERT to Explore
Chicago's Historic Chinatown

oin the American Library Association's Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table
(EMIERT) as it explores Chicago's iconic
Chinatown as part of EMIERT's ongoing Taste of the Town series of tours. The
tour will take place from 12:00 - 4:00
p.m. on Friday, June 23.
Established in the early 1910s in Chicago's near southwest side, Chinatown's
over thirty restaurants, many shops, and
distinctive architecture has made this

vibrant neighborhood one of the city's
favorite tourist attractions.
The tour will depart McCormick
Place at 12:00 p.m. and will include a
tour of the Chinese American Museum
of Chicago, followed by lunch and shopping on your own before returning to the
convention center.
Registration for the tour is $25 for
EMIERT members, $30 for non-members.

GraphiCon at ALA Annual

ooking for some geeky and comic
sessions to attend? Fret no more
- GraphiCon is here! GraphiCon
is a roundup of all the geeky and comic
programming happening at ALA Annual Conference.
GraphiCon will commence at the
Graphic Novel Friday Forum and
continue until the end of conference.
The Graphic Novel Friday Forum will
focus on using graphic novels in an
educational setting. Other sessions
throughout the conference will cover
topics such as international comics,
how to run a library presence at a
convention, and the future of comic
librarianship.

Aside from panel presentations,
attendees can visit Artist Alley and
Graphic Novel and Gaming Stage on the
exhibit floor, and the Gaming Lounge.
Make sure to participate in the ERT/
Christopher J. Hoy Scholarship and
Artist Alley Silent Auction. The auction
features original work donated by Artist
Alley participants as well as numerous
quilts donated by the ALA BiblioQuilters and friends of ERT. Bidding ends
Sunday at 4:45 p.m.
