Hoy, who was director of the ALA Conference Services Office for over 20 years, the Christopher J. Hoy/ERT Scholarship was established with donations from the family of Christopher J. Hoy and the Exhibits Round Table (ERT) to honor his memory. This $5,000 General ALA Scholarship is awarded each year to an individual who will be attending an ALA-accredited program of library T-SHIRT QUILT, 58.5” x 89”, Coordinated by Jill Patterson, Orange County Library, CA; Quilted by Kelly Sattler, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan and information studies leading to a master’s degree. They had had some online correspondence through PubLib and quilt discussion groups, but had not met in person. For the 1999 New Orleans conference they announced a fabric shopping expedition and a half BOOKSHELF QUILT, 40” x 60”; Coordinated by Erica Stiner, Librarian, Fort Hood, TX; Quilted by Erica Stiner dozen other librarian/quilters joined them. Since then the BQs have met at ALA and PLA conferences from San Francisco and Seattle to Greensboro, N.C., and Philadelphia to shop for fabric, visit quilt shows, and tour textile museums.
