Electronic Impact Report 2017 - 15
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
We are committed to improving our members'
access to funding. To that end, in July 2016, HQP
hosted an in-person training for health center grant
writers. It included a training from Centerprise on
health center transformation and
resources health centers may need, along with the
Children's Initiative Report Card on Children and
Families.
GOAL: Strengthen the Enterprise to ensure the
ongoing viability of the HCP family of companies.
In July 2016, HQP launched two major programs that
benefitted members in the areas of health care access
and technology.
(1) Connecting Kids to Coverage (CHIPRA), a two-year
initiative by CMS, is designed to enroll newly
eligible children into Medi-Cal. All member health
centers were invited to participate; five opted in.
New Funding
In FY16-17, HQP launched an effort to identify and
advance a new revenue source - philanthropy - that
will leverage the collective power of the HCP Family of
Companies and our members.
(2) The Health Resources and Services Administration
(HRSA) Health Center Controlled Network grant
supports work in Health IT integration, Data
Quality and Reporting, Health Information
Exchange and Population Health Management, and
Quality Improvement. The funds are earmarked for
FQHC members; 12 opted in.
GOAL: Complete a written philanthropy feasibility
study by June 30 to present to the board.
This began by selecting CCS Fundraising, a national
organization with an office in Irvine, to conduct the
study, which will determine our readiness and capacity
for a philanthropy program to help sustain and build
services.
GOAL: Obtain $5.8 million in grant funding in FY16/17
One of HQP's primary goals is generating new grant
funding. By the end of FY16-17, we reached our goal.
HQP updated its Program of Work 2020 for FY18 with
two new initiatives - Innovation Hub and Philanthropy which were approved by the Board in June.
To discuss strategies for improving access to care we
met with the California Health Care Foundation and
provided background on HCP and its Family of
Companies and learned more about the foundation.
HQP welcomed California Endowment's project
officers for a site visit to highlight our work as a grantee
and explore potential areas for collaboration.
HQP hosted a site visit with Komen San Diego, our main
funder for breast health diagnostic services, and was
awarded grants from Mammograms in Action and
Komen San Diego to support these services.
