1 2 Amanresorts' first urban property By JOANN GRECO Photography courtesy of AMANRESORTS When it opened in late December, Aman Tokyo represented a departure for the tony brand. Best known for its luxurious resorts, this is the company's first urban location, representing Aman's new focus on establishing a presence in the world's top cities. Though the hotel rises rather than sprawls-occupying the 33rd through 38th floors of the new Kohn Pedersen Foxdesigned Otemachi Tower not far from the Ginza shopping district-it doesn't mean the designers skimped on materials or space. 1. In the guestrooms at Aman Tokyo, floor-toceiling windows in the sunken living space offer downtown views. 2. The hotel's lobby lounge-complete with a reflecting pool-and other public spaces are located on the 33rd and 34th floor of the Otemachi Tower. hospitalitydesign.com May 2015 247http://www.hospitalitydesign.com
