I was constantly rearranging the furniture and art in our house from a very young age. Every room was up for my reinterpretation. I remember even doing a sketch for my dad of ways to improve the swing set. The first time I can remember taking note of what an interior designer does was in the film Mrs. Doubtfire-the scenes when Sally Field's character is in her design office fascinated me. My dad was a real estate investor, and I have fond memories of watching him hand draft floorplans and elevations, and of being on his job sites. The first time I can recall being conscious of a high level of service in an inspiring environment was on a family vacation to Mexico around age 12. We stayed in a really beautiful resort in Cabo San Lucas, and the immense scale of everything made a big impression on me. After college-I went to the Art Institute of Portland-I tried freelance design. But after a few high-demand projects and a stint as an architectural designer with LAIKA animation studios, I decided it sounded nice to work with a focused interior design team on larger concepts.
