advertorial Q&A with richard horton vice president sales & marketing What's one thing people probably don't know about your company? United Furniture and Seating has been family owned and operated for over 25 years with a rich history of providing exceptional casegoods and upholstery in the hospitality market. This year we will be relaunching our bespoke division Jordan Young International in New York the weekend of Nov 13. How do you see your company growing in the next five years? This is an exciting time for us. Working from the solid foundation provided from the past 25 years, we are beginning to execute a new five year growth plan. This started with bringing on a National Multi-line sales force. Over the next five years we will include focused initiatives for specific markets. What is your company's philosophy? The company's philosophy is to simply provide each client with outstanding customer service and product. The hard part is that it can be very different for every project and client. We achieve this through a tight flat organization. Our clients and reps have open access and communication throughtout the organization. Going forward the growth plan is developed but fluid so we will never lose the focus that our clients are our number one priority. How has technology played a role in product development? Our product design team is working with the most up to date 3D modeling. Each person on the design team has design and furniture construction backgrounds. This gives our clients more detailed drawings with shorter over all lead times. What current trends are you keeping your eye on? We are really thinking outside the box in our approach. For the last 5 years designers have been breaking bounderies. You will have a focus service hotel, doctors office, and mutli million dollar estate all being designed in one office, and 060 October 2016 hospitalitydesign.com often by the same designer. We are looking at ways to assist designers in making that transition easy. How is being environmentally friendly changing the way you design products? As a company, we have maintained partnerships that use sustainable foresty products within 500 miles of our factory. With the five year growth plan we are taking it one step further and looking at ways to bring production back into the America's. What do you look for in a good partnership? Simple: honest open communication and trust. How do you ensure strong partnerships? Everyone here takes exceptional pride in the work we do. We want to built long term solid relationships with repeat clients. To achieve this we get to know our clients.
