hospitality design portfolio Stantec Architecture & Design Hyatt Regency Chicago - Schaumburg | Illinois The design vision for the renovation of the Hyatt Regency Chicago Schaumburg in Illinois brings an urban aesthetic to the nondescript suburban atrium hotel. The austere masonry structure required a bold gesture to significantly transform the interiors and establish a new identity for the hotel. A floating cube structure was proposed to create interest within the atrium space, but also effectively screen the guestroom windows above. The three-story bronze finished framework with translucent polycore fins creates a textured façade that reflects light in a dynamic, playful manner. This signature architectural element establishes the desired "wow Reception features an abstract tree silhouette on a folded metal panel factor" upon arrival, while also providing the much-needed sense of intimacy within the large volume of the atrium. A central communal table surrounded by comfortable lounge groupings anchors the lobby lounge. Guests flow in and out of the adjacent F&B areas, which offer intimate spaces for work or gathering. The reimagined space features classic modern finishes, including subtle gray tones, white Carrara marble, and warm walnut millwork, which combine to lend the space an upscale, timeless appeal.
