perspectives installations salone By Jennifer Young SCENE STEALERS Five powerful and thought-provoking installations that took this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan by storm waste no more Photos by NICHOLAS CALCOTT and courtesy of LI EDELKOORT Housed inside Ventura Centrale's vaulted tunnels and co-curated by trend forecaster Li Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano, the exhibition from Eileen Fisher and DesignWork (an extension of the designer's empire that recycles her company's own goods) spoke directly to the wasteful nature of the fashion industry and garment production. Wall hangings crafted from old clothes and fabric scraps by artists Sigi Ahl and Carolina Bedoya were displayed in a gallery setting, while a simple yet dramatic arch of rectangular blue bins was filled with discarded clothing, highlighting a need for more sustainable practices.
