pedigree speaks for itself. She
joined Standard Hotels 18 months
ago as chief design officer, where
she's been integral in expanding
the hotel company's global
footprint, launching inaugural
properties in London (page 098)
and the Maldives (page 120).

Kalczak joined Four Seasons
Hotels and Resorts in 1998, where
she oversaw its Middle Eastern
properties. For the past 20 years, as
vice president of design, her work
has reshaped the luxury market.
With properties from Madrid to
Montreal-described on page
092-Kalczak has found a winning
formula of marrying luxe details
with an inviting sense of place.

tackle additional hotel projects,
including the Riggs Washington
DC, explored on page 132.

Pierre Yovanovitch
Founder
Pierre Yovanovitch
Yovanovitch founded his Parisbased design atelier in 2001 after
a career designing menswear for
Pierre Cardin. Today, he is known
for his haute couture aesthetic,
blending high art, architecture,
and vintage furniture into one
sumptuous product. Among those
is the 5-Star Le Coucou in Méribel,
found on page 094, a ski-in/ski-out
resort in France with a quirky yet
sophisticated style.
