Erik Goodfriend is
a medical planner and
healthcare architect, collaborating with healthcare
providers and administrators to find creative
solutions that redefine
and reinvent healthcare
delivery. Erik is motivated by opportunities
to re-characterize the relationship between patients and healthcare
organizations, with a strong focus on the user experience and teamwork
dynamics.
Currently the healthcare studio director at Mahlum Architects and
a principal in the firm, Erik also participates in multiple professional
organizations and has presented at many healthcare focused conferences. When not facilitating design meetings in a room of healthcare
providers, he can be found rolling through the cascade foothills on his
mountain bike, or hiking with a big, fluffy dog.

James Lennon is an architect who
has designed or planned healthcare
projects totaling more than a billion
dollars. Lennon has specialized in the
design of emergency departments for
the last 15 years. He has lectured about
emergency department design at the
Harvard Graduate School of Design
Professional Development Program for
the past 8 years. Examples of projects
that Lennon has designed include the ER
1 phase III and IV in Washington, DC;
Duke University emergency department
(90,000 visits/yr) in Durham, North Carolina; York Hospital (65,000
visits/yr) in York, Pennsylvania; QE II Emergency Department (55,000
visits/yr) in Halifax, Nova Scotia; University of Kentucky (68,000 visits/
yr) in Lexington, Kentucky; and the Children's Hospital of Dallas
(70,000 visits/yr) in Dallas, Texas.

Roger Call, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, EDAC

Roger Call is a registered architect and is currently Director, Kaizen
Architecture, for Herman Miller
Healthcare. He is responsible for guiding the strategic direction for the application of continuous improvement lean
initiatives within healthcare. During his
previous 29 years with Herman Miller,
he has had responsibilities for healthcare marketing, product management
and for directing research for all areas
within the healthcare environment.
Prior to joining Herman Miller, Mr. Call was employed in private
architectural practice with CRS of Houston, HOK of St. Louis, Missouri,
and The Architects Collaborative of Cambridge, Mssachusetts. He has
a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rice University and a Master
of Architecture from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. He
is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the
American Institute of Architects, the Academy of Architecture for
Health, where he serves on the board of directors and is currently
past president, the Clinical Laboratory Management Association,
the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and is a LEEDaccredited professional by the U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Call
is board certified in healthcare design by the American College of
Healthcare Architects and is an adjunct professor at Arizona State
University.

James C. Lord II, AIA
KGA Architecture
Las Vegas, Nevada
As Director of Design for KGA
Architecture, James Lord is responsible for the development of building
design for all projects. Lord believes
that individuals can express themselves
through the art of architecture, which
he encourages in his staff of young
designers. Lord's projects reflect his
quest for expression. Each project takes
on a character of its own, driven by
function, context, schedule, budget,
aesthetics and the client's expectations.
Many of his projects have received
awards, ranging from AIA technical awards to regional and builder's
awards to periodical and publications awards. James Lord currently is a
member of the AIA Committee on Design Advisory Group, a volunteerled advisory group, as the Honors & Awards Chair.
