Competition
Celebrating the Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners that excelled at
reshaping existing environments to support modern patient care

FOR THE 9TH annual Healthcare Design Remodel/Renovation Competition, we decided to change
things up a bit. We opted not to restrict submissions to categories at all and instead opened the program to any renovation of a single space-for example, a nurses' station, dining area, lobby, and so on.
Then, rather than have a Best in Category winner, we decided to have our jury of industry experts
name Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners.
Those jury members-including architects, interior designers, and facility managers assembled
by The Center for Health Design-reviewed dozens of submissions that breathed new life into both
existing healthcare spaces and adaptive reuse environments.
The submissions were narrowed down to the top three winners described on the following pages.
Enjoy the before-and-after photos as well as the jury comments about why these special projects
stood out.
Additionally, you'll find a Remodel/Renovation Competition gallery following those winner
profiles, offering details on all the projects submitted to the program.
