IT'S NOW A tradition that my column in the April is-

sue of Healthcare Design offers you a preview of our
upcoming Healthcare Design Expo & Conference
locale, as this is the time of year when our team has
just returned from touring the destination convention center. In this case, I'm fresh off our trip to New
Orleans and am excited to share what we have in
store for you this November.
This year will mark the first time the HCD Expo
will be held in New Orleans. And while your waistline may not approve, you'll definitely want to
make plans to join us Nov. 2-5.
New Orleans has some great lift, so you shouldn't have too much trouble
getting a reasonable flight from any part of the country. After landing at the
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, which is expected to
transfer all operations to a new $1 billion terminal scheduled to open in May,
you'll have a brief 25-minute ride to our Hilton Riverside headquarters hotel.
The Hilton is located just down the street from the convention center, an easy
seven-minute walk away.
As in the past, our goal in selecting a venue for HCD Expo is to find one
that can accommodate three major components: a large educational
conference, a trade show that must be located close to the session rooms,
and a ballroom that can comfortably seat all of our attendees for keynote and
awards sessions. With recent convention center renovations including a new
great hall for general sessions, we found the Ernest N. Morial Convention
Center exceptionally well suited for our event.
The expo hall will be located on Level 1, and a quick escalator or elevator
ride will take attendees directly above to the conference sessions on Level 2.
This New Orleans convention center is actually one of the largest convention
centers in the country; however, the way the areas we'll be using are stacked
will contribute to an intimate environment that's very easy to navigate.
One great opportunity to see a local attraction will be at an attendee favorite, our annual networking reception, held on Day 2 of the show. This year
we'll head to Generations Hall (www.generationshall.com), a short walk from
the hotel district and a truly amazing space you won't want to miss. Plus, the
famous French Quarter and charming Garden District are both easily accessible from our location.
The excitement of New Orleans will surely transform an already great
business trip into a fantastic and unexpected experience. New Orleans will be
the perfect location for HCD Expo, and I can't wait to see you there. 
