THE GOAL FOR our annual invitation-only HCD

Forum event is to offer high-level, multidisciplinary industry professionals an opportunity
to exchange ideas, engage in problem-solving,
and deeply consider the topics most relevant
to their work right now. We accomplish this
through a dynamic mix of education and networking opportunities over food, drinks, and
other activities designed to take full advantage
of our beautiful and inspiring locations.
Basically, it's the perfect mix of work and fun.
And so my recent visit to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., home to
our 2019 Forum, followed the same model.
I was on-site to help scout the location to solidify our venues throughout our stay there this coming Sept. 4-6. And although spring hadn't quite
sprung yet, crocuses and daffodils were in bloom, baby lambs were frolicking, and the stunning vastness of the property was inspiring.
I covered the basics, of course, like visiting the Biltmore House and
Gardens and doing some tastings at both the on-site winery and downtown Asheville craft breweries. But most importantly, I had the chance to
check out our destination hotel, the four-star Inn on Biltmore Estate; the
property's brand new meeting venue; as well as some potential settings
for activities and dinners in and around the Biltmore property.
A big piece of that was visiting the space where our annual HCD 10
awards dinner will be held during Forum-a highlight of the event that
celebrates the winners of our professional recognition program. It's always a special evening. And in a setting as beautiful as the one we have in
store, I'm certain this year will be no exception.
But, first, we'll need our winners. Be sure to nominate yourself or your
peers for this year's HCD 10 awards, which celebrates the successes of industry members across 10 categories (architect, interior designer, educator, researcher, etc.). The deadline is May 15, and more information can

And if Forum is piquing your interest, I encourage you to reach out
for more information (see HCDforum.com). Again, the event is open to
qualified attendees only-senior-level professionals actively engaged in
the design and building of healthcare facilities-and space is limited. It's
a great opportunity to join our esteemed Editorial Advisory Board (listed
at right) at a truly unique event taking place in a truly unique setting.
The Biltmore Estate is difficult to describe to those who haven't been-
the scale of the setting, well beyond the house itself, and the impressive
feat of its enormous daily operations. I already see parallels and inspirational ties to healthcare that I'm certain we'll be exploring soon enough. 
