retain core buildup when there is insufficient
tooth structure. Offers excellent radiopacity
for easy and immediate identification on
an X-ray, high flexural strength, and ideal
modulus elasticity. Will not interfere with
natural light transmission, resulting in
outstanding aesthetics. Allows for fewer root
fractures than metal posts. Parallel design
includes a retentive head, which provides
maximal retention of core buildup; tapered
design includes retention on the head and
allows for a more conservative preparation;
and serrated design offers retention along
the entire length of the post. Posts are color
coded for easy identification.
