Some 12,000 pounds of Eastman's Tenite butyrate were used to construct the translucent side walls and dome for "Hello, Dolly"! Butyrate plastic was molded and thermoformed at the 20th Century-Fox Prop and Miniature Shop under the direction of R. H. Spies. Looking for all the world like French cut glass, Harmonia Gardens set for forthcoming 20th Century-Fox production of "Hello, Dolly"! utilizes vacuum formed panels and ceiling dome made from Tenite butyrate plastic. Over 12,000 Ibs. of clear plastic was painted to create a translucent effect for the set.
