There was a noticeable volume increase when the secondary winding was positioned about two feet from the primary winding, but this caused no problem because it required holding the slave unit less than waist high even when the person carrying the bag stood just inside the primary winding. Experiments showed that loss of signal was immediate when the bag was transported outside the primary winding. Total cost of the device including wire for the primary winding was under $20.00.
