Sigfrido AguIar's Troupe Using comedy improv, mime, and dance techniques this troupe creates a clown performance that is an amalgamation of clowning and dance. Their costumes take on the qualities of a troupe of ragtag commedia players who constantly shift roles and attitudes. Their clothing has a neutral quality so they can play and improvise on many different roles. Unlike circus clowning, they substitute mugging for makeup, and their costumes emphasize the quality of a company with a group identity, rather than a group of generic clowns. Their look is far more inspired by dance costumes than by clown costumes. 8 Thealre Design & Technology / USITT / Winter 1986
