LARDS COMMENTARY AND PHOTOS BY Bruce Brockman and Bradford Clark he Belarussian exhibit was small and utilized simple white display panels. Six designers were represented in the exhibit and although a great deal of diversity in style and design approach was eVident, the defining quality of the exhibit was the tremendously beautiful quality of the rendering and model work. The centerpiece of the exhibit was the work by Dmitry Mohov. His beautiful painterly style was demonstrated in his renderings for EUGENE ONEGIN and SWAN LAKE both designed for the Musical Theatre in Cheboksary. His work was some of the most traditional and painterly design work seen at the PO. The limited color pallet, detailed period costumes and stylized figures of Elenora Grigoruk's costume designs for Verdi's RIGOLETTO were beautifully rendered and expressive of the characters. By contrast her charcoal and chalk designs for MASTER AND MARGARITA by Glebov took on a more angular quality somewhat evocative of early Russian constructivist costume designs. 32 F ALL I 9 9 1D&1
