peRfORMinG AT Poland's exhibit explored the theme of "Space: betwen people, memory, history, emotions, cultural codes." The white cube was a neutral exhibition space in which visitors were able to view works of contemporary theatrical design on the little televisions and also create their own responses on the walls. It provided a place for "meeting between recipients and works, and an excuse for creating social relations." The Japanese exhibit was not a presentation of past works but rather a space in which several Japanese scenographers and costume designers created a theatrical design, live, in five-minute intervals, using the common material of paper. 40 theatre design & technology f a l l 2011
