This acquisition was announced at USITT and the buzz immediately ran through Stage Expo. These two fixtures of entertainment technology moved swiftly once GAM's Joe Tawil decided he was ready to retire. They have great complimentary product lines and Rosco has announced that it intends to continue GAM's products, though the details continue to be worked out as the summer rolls along. Chauvet Lighting returned after many years absence. Their F-165WW instrument was a big hit among attendees. With a spot-flood range of 9°-52°, the flood can be adjusted manually or from a control board. The response from attendees was very positive and Chauvet heard from many that their presence at Stage Expo was a welcomed sight. City Theatrical was showing their products for the first time since their New Jersey facilities were devastated by Hurricane Sandy. It was great to see them back in full operation so quickly after literally emptying fish from their trash cans. Their D2 and D4 dimmers, designed for things such as LED tapes, were a much discussed product among attendees. LED's continue to grow in their presence and sophistication across product lines. Stage Expo featured many new advances in the dimmability of LEDs, the variety and complexity of instruments, and the increasing availability of instruments across price points. Many companies sent representatives to this year's Expo as they prepare to make commitments for 2014.
