Act 1, Scene 3. This was the reveal of the train station after the curtain rose at the beginning of the show. I wanted this scene
to feel grand as this is the audience's first view of the train. To accomplish this I used construction gobos in my high sidelight
to draw on all the metal that is seen in train stations and on a train itself. I also used a fogger in this scene to replicate a train

The biggest challenge I had with lighting this show was the fact that our set
moved. The train had two fixed positions; the dining car and the sleeping car.
In order to light every area specific to both positions I had to create two area
maps and figure out how to hang two different systems of front light and top
light with a limited inventory of lights. However, this allowed me to control the
audience's focus to specific compartments within the train.

Since I created two different area maps, I also created two different
magic sheets for each position that the train was in. This is the magic
sheet for when the train was in the dining car position.
Act 2, Scene 4. These radio moments are when the owner and conductor on the
train are trying to reach anybody through the radio to tell them that the train is
stuck in the snow and that there has been a murder on board. The first two times
this occurs, there is no response. I wanted this moment to evoke the isolation
and confinement that all the passengers are feeling on board, so the only lights
illuminating the actor are a cool side light and top light. Actor: Will Nysse. | Photo

Act 2, Scene 5. This is the final reveal moment of the show when the audience finds
out that everyone partook in the murder of Ratchett. This was the final flashback
scene, so I used blue sidelight and toplight from previous flashback cues to establish
that we are in a flashback. I also used high red sidelight to draw back on the moment
when we originally found Ratchett dead in his bed. Actors: Erik Berg, Adam Bloom,
