billion order with South Korea-based
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine
Engineering Co. Ltd. for 11 secondgeneration Triple-E containerships,
each with a capacity of 19,630
twenty-foot-equivalent units, with
an option for six more vessels.
The Harbor Trucking Association
is partnering with Trucker Chassis
Connection and ChassisFinder.com
to create a new California chassis
pool, initially with 200 chassis based
near the Port of Los Angeles and
Port of Long Beach plus 50 units
outside the Port of Oakland.
Austin, Texas-based private
equity firm Tritium Partners has
assumed an unspecified "majority
investment" in Randolph, Mass.based drayage and logistics firm
RoadOne IntermodaLogistics.
CMA CGM America Inc. parent
CMA CGM Group has launched
expanded container shipping
offerings between North America
and North Europe, including a
new service in conjunction with
Hamburg Sud and United Arab
Shipping Co. with U.S. calls at New
York, the Port of Virginia in Norfolk,
the South Carolina Ports Authority
in Charleston and the Georgia Port
Authority in Savannah, as well as
addition to an existing service of calls
at Maryland Port Administration
docks in Baltimore.
In a deal for which financial
details were not announced, United
Parcel Service Inc. subsidiary UPS
Capital plans to acquire Parcel Pro, a
Torrance, Calif.-based logistics firm
specializing in insurance coverage
and related services for transport of
jewelry and other high-value goods.
EnPro Industries Inc. company
Stemco has announced entering
into an agreement, subject to
regulatory approvals, to acquire the
Veyance North American air springs
business of Continental AG.
Crowley Maritime Corp. has
acquired Seattle-based Maritime
Management Services Inc. in a
transaction for which financial
details were not released. Also,
Crowley has been awarded a
contract with the Sunrise Operations
LLC subsidiary of Pasha Trucking
LLC parent The Pasha Group for
operation, crewing and maintenance
of four Jones Act ships running
between Hawaii and the U.S. West
Coast.
American Intermodal
Container Manufacturing Co.
and Navistar Inc. plan, beginning
in early 2016, to jointly produce
53-foot-long shipping containers at
a pace of as many as 15,000 a year at
a plant in Colbert County, Ala.

Maersk Line has added its first
weekly calls at Jacksonville Port
Authority facilities, with a realigned
TP10 trans-Pacific service between
Northern China and South Korea
and the U.S. East Coast that also calls
at Georgia Ports Authority docks
in Savannah, South Carolina Ports
Authority facilities in Charleston and
PortMiami.
CenterPoint Properties is
building an 8.67-acre storage yard
for California Multimodal LLC at
the CenterPoint Intermodal Center in
Joliet, Ill. CenterPoint also has inked
a long-term lease with International
Transload Logistics Inc. for 303,061
square feet of space in the Joliet
center and plans to speculatively
build a 315,810-square-foot
warehouse as part of expansion at
its intermodal park near the Georgia
Port Authority's Port of Savannah.
The acquisition by Norfolk
Southern Railway Co. of 283 miles
of track in Pennsylvania and New
York from the Delaware & Hudson
Railway Co. Inc. has gained U.S.
Surface Transportation Board
approval. Also, NS has renamed its
largest classification yard, located
in Bellevue, Ohio, as Moorman Yard,
in recognition of Charles "Wick"
Moorman, who in June retired from
his role as chief executive officer to
become executive chairman.
NFI Industries has opened a
distribution center in Lancaster,
Texas, in support of Rent-A-Center
Inc.
Canadian National Railway
Co. is spending $20 million on
expansion of its cold supply chain
capacity, including acquisition
of 200 domestic, 53-foot-long
temperature-controlled containers.
Also, CN has inked a memorandum
of understanding with the Alabama
State Port Authority in conjunction
with the authority's development of
an intermodal rail facility at the Port
of Mobile.
This year, Union Pacific
Railroad is investing $383 million
in improvements to its Texas
infrastructure and $137 million in
similar work in California.
Roadrunner Transportation
Systems Inc., parent of Roadrunner
Intermodal Services, is expanding
its less-than-truckload services in
the Phoenix and Salt Lake City areas.
Top officials of Florida East
Coast Railway, PortMiami and the
Panama Canal Authority have met
in Panama to discuss advancement
of the canal expansion project and
tour the construction site. Also,
FECR has augmented its next-day
service to Fort Pierce, Fla., to include
weekends. In addition, FECR has
deployed RailConnect mCrew, a
trademarked GE Transportation
