Truck Ton Index Declines Slightly The American Trucking Associations' advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index has continued its moderate up-and-down ride, declining a bit in June. According to a July 21 ATA report, the index for June fell 0.5 percent from May, when it registered a 0.8 percent month-over-month gain (revised from a 1.1 percent increase reported June 23 by ATA) following a 1.4 percent increase in April. As of the end of June, the index stood at 131.1 compared with a 2000 baseline figure of 100. Compared with June 2014, the index was up 1.8 percent in June of this year. Sustainability News Vancouver Port Adds Shore Power Port Metro Vancouver is advancing plans for shore power facilities at its Deltaport and Centerm container terminals following success since 2009 with similar installations for cruise ships at the British Columbia port. Officials announced on July 22 a $12 million funding plan for the new emissions-eliminating installations, with costs to be evenly split between Transport Canada's Shore Power Technology for Ports Program and Port Metro Vancouver.
