IN BRIEF XPO Logistics announced it has agreed to buy Con-way, Inc. for $3 billion. The acquisition will expand XPO's capabilities in the truckload and less-than-truckload segments and expand its intermodal and international third-party logistics capabilities. Schneider Intermodal was awarded Walmart's 2014 Intermodal Carrier of the Year Award. The company has separately announced that it can now move select commodities that originate in the U.S. or Canada across the border with inspections inside Mexico instead of at the border. The company has also added intermodal service between the Southeast U.S. and Montreal through CSX routing. Hamburg Sud added 400 refrigerated containers equipped with the Carrier Transicold XtendFRESH atmosphere control system to its fleet. The carrier says the equipment will give produce exporters a better way to maintain the quality of perishables in transit. IMC Global Solutions, part of IMC Companies, has acquired Global Shippers Association, an importer of home furnishings. According to the company, the acquisition will more than double the size of IMC Global Solutions. In a move the companies say maximizes efficiency, utilization and performance for dry van and refrigerated trailer fleets, Orbcomm and TMW Systems announced the integration of Orbcomm's fleet tracking and monitoring system with TMW's TMWSuite software. Freight-matching marketplace Truckstop.com and Logistical Labs, a cloud-based supply chain software provider, announced an enhancement to their technology integration. LoadDex users can now access three times more data from RateMate than the previous version, at five times the speed. Remote asset tracking and information management solutions provider SkyBitz jointly announced with TMW Systems an enhanced integrated solution with TMW's TruckMate software. The combined solution will provide central monitoring and tracking of trailers to gain real-time operations information, location and cargo status for improved utilization and security, the companies said. Tideworks Technology, Inc. announced the first deployment of Forecast Mobile Lite at Conley Terminal in the Massachusetts Port Authority's Port of Boston. The mobile application allows terminal customers to search for container availability information in real time. Konecranes has received an order for five rubber tired gantry cranes from Termont Montréal Inc., a container terminal operator in the Port of Montréal, Canada. The cranes will be delivered in the second half of 2016. The board of the Georgia Ports Authority approved up to $12.6 million in spending to continue expanding its yard crane electrification project at the Port of Savannah, including 16 additional rubber-tired gantry cranes. The GPA and Army Corps of Engineers have also officially started dredging for the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project.
