Inspiring but not surprising given BrokerTeam's vision of a fully inclusive society. This third interview with William I venture to his office in Richmond Hill in the hopes of getting to know him better and learning how he's become so successful in a seemingly short amount of time. The photo shoot, which took place the week prior, seemed like a good place to start. "I can't say I love the camera. I have a meeting at 3 o'clock this afternoon. I think it'll be a more pleasurable experience-meetings are more my thing." I quickly learn a few things about William: he's charming, straightforward, a calculated risk taker and humble beyond measure-even winning Young Broker of the Year he attributes to his team. "It's a collective thing. At first I didn't want to apply. I don't like the spotlight. But Royle (previous BrokerTeam President) convinced me it would bring positive and well deserved attention to the team that supports me so much. It turned out such a great experience even though it's taken me outside my comfort zone." William got into insurance the same way most brokers do-through family. Following his degree in Communications, his aunt suggested a summer job as Underwriting Assistant at ING. "I have many relatives in insurance-I never intentionally pursued insurance." From ING he joined Pacific Insurance Brokers where he learned the fundamentals of the business and took on a wide variety of roles. "I basically started as a blank page. Luckily I was given many opportunities to try new things, and every time I learned something new and valuable. Joining the broker channel was the best thing I could have done. "Then I had an interesting conversation with Royle at an IBAO Convention. We'd gotten to know each other at various industry events over the years. That conversation led to an opportunity to join BrokerTeam. WWW.IBAO.ORG 31 AUGUST 2019http://WWW.IBAO.ORG
