BK: Hospitality Night was my favourite part,
with the themed rooms and live music. It's
always nice getting to connect with fellow
industry friends in a fun atmosphere.

BK: I found it inspiring to see such a strong
community within our industry, including the
fact we continually try to make it better and
learn from one another.

CM: What I appreciated the most was taking
my staff to dinner and seeing them enjoy the
Tradeshow and Hospitality Night. Breaking
bread with my peers and enjoying the moment
was invaluable.

CM: Small brokers are very viable and
successful. I'd like to see more discussion
about wins for smaller brokerage offices.
This is the lifeblood of the IBAO-we could
be doing more to provide proven strategies
to win.

EM: The biggest highlight was the CEO Panel
because it allowed us to ask highly respected
and knowledgeable CEOs questions about the
current marketplace and their thoughts on the
future of our industry.
DW: I found the Talent Pipeline BIP Talk
informative and interesting. Insurance company
Townhalls were also interesting, and the use of
visual aids is a worthwhile addition over the years.
WHAT WERE YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS?

AC: I was able to put a face to a lot of people I
talk to on a daily basis-that was refreshing. I
made a connection with another broker who,
just two weeks later, helped us insure a highrisk property in a very efficient manner.

EM: One of my biggest takeaways was
that as an industry, we need to adapt to
millennials to attract them to become
brokers. Andrew Au had a great speech about
modern leadership. There aren't a lot of
people who dream of becoming an insurance
broker, mostly because they have the wrong
perspective of this industry. I think if that
stigma is removed, we'll be able to attract
young brokers to our industry.
DW: The reinforcement that we're alive and
well and prepared to face the challenges
of the future. Our Conventions are like a
big Thanksgiving. We're all competitive in
our ways, but when we attend Convention,
we're just brokers facing the ever-changing

marketplace. What's interesting to watch
are the younger brokers becoming involved,
recognizing the efforts and contribution of
those who have willingly given their time
and hard work for the benefit of others. The
respect displayed is boundless.
WHO WAS YOUR FAVOURITE SPEAKER?

AC: Mike Pickering from Economical talked
about the importance of the Net Promoter
Score. He presented clear examples of how
it can help us determine our customers'
experience by measuring their perception
of our reliability, assurance, empathy and
responsiveness. RSA's Dave Mahr delivered a
straightforward message about ethics within
our industry. It was mind-blowing.
BK: George Stroumboulopoulos at Gore's
Townhall was extremely motivating. It
was nice to have a moderator who was an
outsider to the insurance industry who still
had relevant advice that could be used dayto-day.
CM: The Water Brothers were very interesting
and thought provoking, showing people how
the everyday decisions we make impact our
