industry, the current strategy observed by the ASP is often
on-the-job training and mentoring for new-to-industry
engineers before they can become productive. Continuing
education in avionics has been provided through a variety
of sources and certifications within the broad technical
community, including specific industry-based [16] and
academic sources, alongside technical standards and government organizations.
This article proposes a framework for revamping the
Avionics Engineering education applicable internationally.

Institutions already running a program in avionics engineering can update their curriculum. Universities planning to
start such a program can get guidance on how to configure
their programs. In USA, Avionics so far is not a recognized
discipline with ABET; thus, the recommended curriculum
may be adopted in piece meal under aerospace and electrical & computer engineering programs. However, concerned
people may take a lead and start thinking in this direction as
it is strongly perceived that in future the avionics industry
will require engineers with specific knowledge of avionics
systems.
