The underlying idea of this test bench is to use the provided measurements for fault identification.
This paper presents a new version of the DronesBench system,
which is described in [4]. In particular, the proposed system allows
remote control of the testing procedure over the Internet.

SYSTEMS FOR UAS TESTING
The testing approaches of a UAS can be classified into test bench
based and test site based. In the former case, the UAS's components for the following subsystems are tested: the propulsion subsystem and the inertial navigation system (INS)-control board. In
the case of propulsion subsystem, the most important parameters
to be measured are (1) the thrust forces in relation to the motor
speeds, (2) the motor speed response time, and (3) the power efficiency in terms of newtons per watt.
A common test bench used for measuring the static thrust force
is implemented using an electronic weight balance [6]. This system
consists of a pivot with 1° of freedom on the middle of a rigid
rod (Figure 2). A propulsion subsystem is placed on one of the
rod extremes, with a tachometer attached to the drive shaft. On
the other rod extreme, an electronic balance is attached. The thrust
force generated by the propeller because of the motor rotation is
transmitted on the electronic balance. By using this test bench, it is
possible to measure the thrust force exerted by propeller for each
motor rotation speed and to determine the relationship between

them. A characteristic speed versus thrust force can be obtained,
and it can be used for optimizing the mechanical and the electrical
UAS design and the control method. An example of the test bench
implementing this system is shown in Figure 3.
Another measurement system for analyzing the thrust force is
depicted in Figure 4 [6]. In this case, the drive shaft of the motor
is connected to the drive shaft of a load motor. Motor-propeller
configurations with different load conditions can be emulated, and
the corresponding load torque values are measured.
To take into account the effect of wind direction and speed on
the thrust force and motor speed, another test bench is presented in
