however, the opposite was empirically observed by Granado et al. [85], confirmed by the result in Figure 8. This
may be explained by the fact that the AES possesses
higher computational complexity than IDEA.
Dependence of encryption time on entropy and string
length is statistically illustrated in Figure 10.
In general, a strong positive correlation between
encryption time and string length was observed for all
ciphers (with AES showing the least dependence),
whereas a moderate positive correlation was observed
between string entropy and encryption time. Statistically,
AES exhibits the least dependence on string length and
entropy compared to other ciphers.
Table 6 illustrates the performance of proposed cipher
on FPGA implementation geared toward resource constrained environment (low memory and clock speeds).

Compression systems for onboard telemetry in conventional satellites have been proposed as early as in 1965
[91]. Compression allows satellites to transmit more information over the same channel, store more data, and reduce
the number of satellites in orbit. Although compression of
science data is common, compressing housekeeping
telemetry is not common (and quite nonexistent in small
satellites) due to the risk of increased frame error rate
[92], which can be mitigated. There is an increasing
demand for telemetry data compression, given the augmentation and complexity of modern satellite telemetry
data with limited data rates, along with the need for low
energy long distance transmission [93]. Apart from bit
error scattering, conventional compression algorithms
have been proven to reduce bandwidth usage up to ten
times [93].
