QI is a very promising sensing protocol with significant
potential gains over traditional detection methods in low-signal, high-noise situations. A microwave QI radar could be
built using current superconducting circuit technology using
the quantum-enhanced noise radar protocol. While the transmission of entangled microwave signals remains a significant
technological challenge, the recent proof-of-concept experiments in the microwave domain showing a quantum advantage over classical protocols constitute a very promising first
step. How we go from the proof-of-principle demonstration
to a practical setup showing quantum advantage is still
unclear and could require a significant amount of resources
in the long term. However, the payoff for a successful demonstration of a quantum enhancement in detection would be
immense and warrants further investigation.
